1891 sinking of shaft 4

1893 beginning of mining, approx. 2,900 employees

1922 sinking of shaft 11

1928 beginning of mining

1932 closing of active coal mining in the course of centralizing the total mining in shaft XII, shaft 11 now used as a weather shaft

1967 closing of construction site 4/5/11, fill in of shaft 4

1977 shaft system 4/5/11 becomes a training workshop for the Ruhrkohle AG (RAG)

1986 closing of active coal mining at Zollverein

1993 closing of the coking plant at Zollverein

1994 EU-conference / Essener Agreement

1995 closing of the central RAG training workshop

1995 renovation and conversion of the buildings at shaft 4/5/11 into the ZukunftsZentrumZollverein - Triple Z (FutureCentreZollverein) – a centre for the support of business foundations and young enterprises
