Jury Decision Process 2005

This time the five members of the jury selected a male scholarship holder: Tatsuya Higuchi,artist of photography, born 1972 in Yokohama, Japan. From 1st of July 2005 he is going to have a studio at the former railway control centre on the terrain of Triple Z. The application of Higuchi convinced the jury with a high degree of articulate ness, his work specimen with their original and poetic quality. His project has the title "Ordinary way of Mrs. …/Mr. …". The artist wants to bring up thoughts and memories, which people from Essen associate with specific stretches of way, which they cover in their hometown.

The entitled to vote members of the jury had been: Stefan Pietryga, artist from Potsdam and Essen, Christoph Platz, artist from Bochum and Tokyo, as well as Roger Schimanski, who works at the gallery Heimeshoff in Essen and the executive chairman of the donation Zollverein Essen, Ulrich Ströher. Peitryga and Platz are having a good knowledge about the Japanese way of art.
